HLB Egypt Makary Consulting (HLB-MC) was touched and excited to witness the closing ceremony, held on June 22nd 2019, in Ramsis Hilton hotel, for the 5-year Capacity Building Wastewater and Water Decision Support System (WDSS) project, funded by GIZ, in close cooperation and support from the Holding Company for Water and Wastewater (HCWW) of Ministry of Water and Wastewater Utilities (MoWWU). HLB-MC was part of the Consortium responsible for the planning and execution of the project, led by Atkins International (lead), and composed of Chemonics Egypt, HCL Consultants and HLB Egypt Makary Consulting.
The project initiated back in 2014 with a vision to foster the capacity of decentralized and integrated planning in the water and wastewater sector. Now, 5 years down the road, one can confidently indicate that the project qualifies to be a case study for planning in Egypt. Throughout the project duration, HLB-MC worked closely with the 21 Affiliate Companies (ACs), all over Egypt, to transfer knowledge, materials and specialized financial and economic software to enable young planning employees to develop financial and economic feasibility studies for water and wastewater projects. HLB-MC cooperated with the other members of the consortium to promote integrated technical, financial and economic planning in one package. Now, that the project is successfully completed, we believe that sustainability is secured as the ACs assume full ownership of the developed tools and materials.
